Physical Description

Bronze figure of a male seated in the lotus position. Figure is clothed in long robes and gown with elaborate necklaces. The hair is pulled up into a topknot and also falls over shoulders in two plaits. Around head is an ornate headdress which is partially damaged. Register says this is a 'Goddess of Mercy'; however, this is really Kuanyin, the Chinese form of the Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara.
