Physical Description

Lidded lacquered box; hexagonal form with three feet. Base is black; top and sides are gold. Inside are six trapezoidal shaped dishes around the edges and one hexagonal dish in the centre. Each has a floral/foliate image painted in the centre. Cracked at one corner.
Lid is black inside, outside top and sides are gold. Three floral images painted in circular shape: on one of blossom, one of irises, one of chrysanthemums. An area of black is showing through the gold lacquer as if work away. Badly cracked along one edge and less badly cracked at the opposite corner.
