Physical Description

Red figure hydria. Horizontal handle on each side, just below the shoulder. Vertical handle on back extending from below rim to shoulder. Scene on front between palmette border at top, and meander border at bottom.
Scene shows Apollo holding a harp. Below him is the head of Orpheus.
Apollo is flanked by the ghost of Eurydike (the wife of Orpheus) and the Pythia - the prophetic priestess of Apollo.
