Physical Description

Mere pounamu; nephrite / kawakawa variety, spatulate in form, wide blade with two shallow chips on edge one side near top of blade, longitudinal flaw runs off centre of blade just short of midway, many feather fractures and some translucency. Blade tapers to lightly noted shoulders, handle tapers further to flared butt which has semi rounded proximal end. Straight drilled perforation (centre of handle) might indicate European technology. Holes burred/slightly flared at mouth surface both sides. Five shallow bands run diagonally across butt on both sides.
