Bailer, D34.146

Very well finished canoe bailer damaged at lip. Carved with koruru figurer with paua eyes on centre rear of bailer. Two manaia sit either side of koruru figure and koru pattern relief radiates around both sides of lip. Carved head on handle has no relief carving. While the scoop is one single form, the shape of the scoop has two discrete sections, a flattened internal scoop deepens to the rear but the outside bottom is rounded. A crack runs fron the lip inside to mid point. A small nail sized hole is placed mid point just inside the lip.
