Physical Description

Shamshir' or 'Scimitar'. Very broad, curved steel blade. Single-edged, double-edged 2/3 to tip. Thickened point. Chiselled relief motifs - tigers, lions (?) and elephants; three warriors, brass plated, raised relief, two near hilt, one larger centre, 1/3 way to point. Iron hilt, worn silver inlay; floral patterns. Long, straight, square-ended languet. Disc-shaped knobs on cross-guard ends. Widened grip, large disc pommel topped by hemisphere and round-section tapered extrusion, surrounded by many-petalled flower. Leather scabbard, embossed floral silver chape, locket.
