Pipe, D2012.63

Physical Description

Pipe consists of bowl and stem, each of similar length. Bowl is of similar width from below lip to base. Stem tapers from base of bowl to narrow 'tube'. Stem angles upwards away from bowl at approximately 60 degrees from horizontal. The bottom of bowl where stem meets bowl is a sharp pointed angle. Stem is hollow through to base of hollow bowl. A dark reddish 'wash' runs from top of outside of bowl for a bit over 1/3 length of bowl, and appears to coat the entire interior of the bowl. The same dark reddish 'wash' runs from the narrow end of the stem approximately 1/3 the length of the stem. The remaining exterior surface of bowl is lighter red. Pipe gives general appearance of having not been used. Pipe has likely been 'brush' fired, i.e. fired at low temperature.
